Ingredients

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tbsp fish sauce
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tsp chili garlic sauce
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • ½ cup water

Equipment

  • Small mixing bowl
  • Whisk or spoon
  • Garlic press (optional)

Method

  1. Combine garlic, fish sauce, lime juice, chili garlic sauce, sugar, and water in a small bowl.
  2. Stir well until sugar is completely dissolved.
  3. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed - add more lime juice for sourness or more sugar for sweetness.
  4. Let rest for 15 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
  • For a vegan version, substitute fish sauce with soy sauce and mushroom powder.
  • Adjust the chili amount to control heat level.
  • Add finely shredded carrots and daikon for a traditional serving style with spring rolls.
