Add the halved cherry tomatoes, arranging some around the edges of the bowl for visual appeal.
Sprinkle in the shredded carrots, distributing them evenly throughout the salad.
Add the diced cucumber and thinly sliced red onion.
If using optional ingredients, add cheese, bacon bits, avocado, or other mix-ins of your choice.
Just before serving, drizzle about half of the ranch dressing over the salad ingredients. Using tongs or salad servers, gently toss until the vegetables are lightly coated.
Taste and add more dressing as needed.
Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
If using, sprinkle the top with fresh chives and croutons for a finishing touch.
